The Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Chile, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in astronomy, focused on the characterization of extrasolar planets. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Rafael Brahm at the Peñalolén campus and will join the Physics and Astronomy group at UAI.
We seek a qualified and motivated researcher with a Ph.D. in astronomy or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in extrasolar planets and/or stellar astronomy. The position is funded by the ALMA fund though ANID for 2-years, with a salary of $23,420,000 CLP/year plus $4,000,000 CLP/year in operational expenses.
The astronomy group at UAI focuses on extrasolar planets, planet formation and planetary sciences (https://physics-astro.uai.cl/research/). At UAI, successful applicants will have access to the time guaranteed to Chilean institutions on all observing facilities based in the country (VLT, ALMA, Gemini-S, Magellan, APEX, SOAR, ASTE, La Silla, CTIO, LSST and the future ELTs). The astronomy group is based in the Peñalolén campus in Santiago.
